Watch: Żibel’s New Clean-Up Boat Żiblu Successfully Crowdfunded Within Days

Żibel’s new clean-up boat Żiblu has been successfully (and very quickly) funded after a crowdfunding campaign was launched last week.
The local environmental NGO launched the campaign after they needed an additional boat to aid in their clean-ups.
“Żiblu has been funded!” the NGO announced through a video, “through crowdfunding donations and the Malta International Airport Foundation.”
“The entire team at Żibel would like to thank each individual for contributing to the crowdfund. It means a lot to us – and trust us when we promise that we are going to put it to the best use,” Andrew from Żibel told Lovin Malta.
“A big thank you goes to the Malta Airport Foundation and the team behind it, if it wasn’t thanks to them we wouldn’t have managed to pull off this crowdfund in record time.”
“It allows us to devote a lot more time to collecting ghost nets with Żiblu. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank the Malta Airport staff and foundation for always thinking of us and assisting us with our projects.”
The NGO required €26,000 in order to purchase the new RHIB, and this was quickly reached after the Malta International Airport Foundation stepped in and covered most of the funds needed.
Żiblu will now be joining its sister-boat Żibla, which has been at the forefront of the hundreds of clean-ups that the NGO has completed.
“Żiblu is now getting ready to get to work, next week will be his first mission for scouting and collecting ghost nets, so we genuinely can’t wait to start using the new boat to its full potential,” Andrew expressed.
