Local environmental heroes Żibel are at it again, and this time, they’ve hauled up not one, not two, but three massive ghost nets from Maltese waters in their latest retrieval mission.

The NGO shared footage of the operation, showing the team heading out to sea and working together to bring the abandoned nets up from the depths.

These so-called ghost nets, fishing nets that are lost, dumped, or simply discarded, continue drifting underwater, silently trapping and damaging marine life. Basically: the stuff of ocean nightmares.

In its social media post, Żibel showcased the tense, hands-on mission and took a moment to thank its crew
