The Environmental Health Directorate has confirmed that the Wied Iż-Żurrieq is once again safe for swimming.

The Directorate within the Superintendence of Public health issued the ban on 9th June due to sewage seeping into the sea, affecting the bathing water quality and presenting potential risk to swimmers’ health.

The sewage overflow stopped when the ban was shared by the directorate, however, the area was marked as “unsafe for bathing” as a precautionary measure. The Environmental Health Directorate invites the public to check out their website for updates on bathing quality in the Maltese islands.
