Another Eurovision Ban?! Fans Are Calling For The UK To Have ‘Blasphemous’ Lyric Censored

Mere hours after it was officially unveiled, the UK’s Eurovision entry for this year has been met with hundreds of comments online… and while the initial ones were all about Malta’s Kant being better, they’ve now evolved into calling for an all-out ban of one of the words in its chorus.

Remember Monday’s song ‘What The Hell Just Happened’ was revealed this morning, with many taking to the YouTube comments to say stuff like they “kant wait” for this May. But now, Eurovision fans across the continent, particularly on TikTok, are calling for the UK to suffer a similar fate to Miriana Conte and have their song be censored because of the word “hell”.

“Hell is such an offensive word, they should really change the lyrics of the song,” comments read, with others suggesting “the other European countries should sue the UK for the use of the blasphemous word”.

Of course, this is almost definitely not going to happen: last year’s winner Nemo sings the word, and the year before, Austria went up with the entry “Who the Hell Is Edgar?“. But while “hell” is definitely not blasphemous, one user perfectly described why the barrage of comments were going in.

“We’re making mock double standards because the BBC allegedly filed the complaint that got Kant censored,” the TikToker said.

Meanwhile, the UK’s Eurovision entry has already started climbing up the 2025 Odds, even managing to end up one place above Malta in 13th place.
