Conchita, Netta And Slew Of Maltese And Global Artists Announced For Massive EuroPride 2023

EuroPride Valletta 2023 just announced a series of impressive events, discussions, and activities set to occur over ten days, promising a vibrant and engaging celebration of pride, equality, and diversity on our very own island!

And they aren’t holding back, with some major names in music including Eurovision royalty – both Maltese and international – as well as important workshops, sessions and key moments to attend in between all the celebrations.

A Buzzing Pride Village

Everything will commence from Pjazza Tritoni, the center of the lively Pride Village, bustling with shows and activities accessible to all. An array of exceptional events include:

    • An enticing Eurovision Night featuring major artists like Conchita, Katrina & The Waves, and The Roop. They’ll be joined by local royalty including Chiara, Fabrizio Faniello, and Claudia Faniello.
    • A Women’s Space, organized by MGRM, will showcase female artists such as Gaia Cauchi, Cheryl Balzan, and DJ Irene.
    • The audience will be treated to electrifying tribute shows of global music icons Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Cher.
    • Kor Kwir, Malta’s pioneering queer community choir, under the guidance of Luke Saydon and Mateo Depares, will present a unique musical experience.

A Rainbow of Events

The official opening of EuroPride Valletta 2023 will occur on 7th September at Pjazza Tritoni, alongside high-ranking authorities, NGOs, and families from both local and international communities.

The opening will be celebrated in Pjazza Helsien, Pjazza Kastilja, and Pjazza San Gorg, with an Opening Concert welcoming Israeli Eurovision winner Netta.

Gozo Pride will take place on 9th September, featuring a Pride March through the streets of Victoria, ending with a concert in Pjazza Indipendenza. The lineup includes a host of artists from Ryan Hili to Martina Borg.

On 8th September, there will be a Community Forum with EU Commissioner for Equality, Helena Dalli, discussing ways European countries can intensify their fight against discrimination and promote equality.

An important topic of LGBTIQ+ at the workplace will be discussed on 15th September at the Chambers of Commerce, highlighting the challenges the community faces at work.

The biggest conference relating to human rights will be the LGBTIQ+ Human Rights Conference, organised by the Human Rights Directorate (HRD) within the Parliamentary Secretary for Reforms and Equality. This event will see local and foreign speakers and experts discussing human rights within and outside Malta.

A Feast of Arts and Culture

The EuroPride Valletta 2023 will also feature a wide range of arts and cultural events including Coco’s Klabb Kabaret, The Other Door by MOVEO Dance Company, and Body of a Thousand Hearts by Claire Tonna. The Representing Pride Photography Exhibition, curated by Samira D’Amato, and a multidisciplinary interactive performance, Outcasts, which explores the experiences of LGBT+ individuals in Tunisia, will also take the spotlight.

An Interfaith Celebration at Hagar Qim will be organized in collaboration with Drachma Malta, amidst other religiously attributed events.

The festival will culminate on 16th September with the Pride March & EuroPride Concert, featuring Ira Losco, Katerina Stikoudi, and a drag show by Queenz.

Embracing Families and Kids

Activities for families and kids will also be part of the celebration, featuring Drag Stories with Olivia Lilith and Aura by Teatru Malta, a multi-sensory experience.

The Gozo Pride on 9th September will see performances by the Versatile Brass band and a host of artists, along with dance performances by Kinetic Dance Company and YADA Dance Company.

All these events, free to attend, symbolise the commitment to celebrate diversity and promote equality.
