It’s been confirmed: Gaia Cauchi, one of Malta’s Junior Eurovision sweethearts and Ġieħ Ir-Repubblika winner, has confirmed that she auditioned for X Factor UK – but she teasingly hasn’t confirmed how she did during the audition or what will happen next.

Speaking to Bay Radio Monday morning, Gaia said that Simon Cowell was the nicest judge to her during her audition, and the Maltese singer played coy and wouldn’t confirm whether she was being headhunted to join an all-girl group after being spotted with other female singers on Instagram.

Gaia confirmed Kevin Paul Calleja was also in London at the same time but didn’t confirm whether he auditioned for X Factor UK too

The news broke after Gaia was spotted briefly in a short clip promoting X Factor Uk and some of the show’s new judges, with many questioning what Gaia would be doing in the show and whether she had auditioned.

This season’s new judges include Robbie Williams, Ayda Field (Robbie Williams’ wife), Louis Tomlinson (One Direction) and of course Simon Cowell.
