Gianluca Bezzina quickly shot to fame back in 2013 for not only representing Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest, but for being the eternally smiling doctor who stole the hearts of thousands. Since his heart only really belongs to one person though, Gianulca got married last weekend… and it was equal parts adorable and awesome.

Gianluca and Vanessa tied the knot on Sunday afternoon, and the wedding reception that followed had a little bit of everything. It even featured what’s possibly the best ever father’s speech at a wedding, one which quickly turned into a massive singalong number (see below).

“Finally! Today I get to marry my favourite person, the most beautiful of beings… my best friend,” Gianluca posted on Facebook early on Sunday morning ahead of the day’s festivities.

Every group photo shared on social media saw the newylweds beaming along with very different groups of people, from popular local bands, to one with some very familiar faces from Eurovision 2013. And yes, the 1971 classic ‘Marija l-Maltija’  also made it to the playlist on the night.

Considering the Bezzinas themselves are a family of seven children, it didn’t take long for everything to be turned up to eleven. From photos featuring small crowds of people to the celebratory songs and dances, the extended family made even the simplest of things look larger than life.

With most of the family and their friends being musicians or singers themselves, the night was definitely not missing from the musical aspect.

In fact, Gianluca’s father Charles had more than just a speech prepared. Taking to the stage towards the end of the night, Mr. Bezzina performed a speech-song all about the two which saw the whole crowd bellowing out an adorable singalong-chorus congratulating Gianluca and Vanessa.

In the song, the singer’s father went through different aspects of the couple’s long relationship, from the first time Gianluca introduced Vanessa to everyone, to a not-so-subtle dig at the two’s different diets. (“Gian jinkwieta, ‘Kul waħda oħra!'”)

Charles has been performing similar songs at all of his children’s weddings, and seeing as Gianluca’s sisters Dorothy and Samaria both got married recently, it’s safe to say its been a very busy year for the Bezzinas!

And if you think you’re going to be the first person to throw in an “It’s time to follow her tomorrow” pun from Gianluca’s 2013 Eurovision song, we’ve got some news for you; it’s been done.

But it wasn’t just done in passing; Gianluca’s friends actually printed a huge banner of the newlyweds emblazoned with the words, “Forget Tomorrow… Tonight is the night!” and stuck it to the side of their car in front of the wedding reception.

And yes, they used that photo of Gianluca which had quickly become a Maltese GIF meme.

Here’s to the happy, adorable couple; congratulations Gianluca and Vanessa!
