Frankie Goes To Hollywood Reunites After 36 Years For Liverpool Eurovision Opening

80s synth-pop band Frankie Goes To Hollywood will be performing in their home town of Liverpool for the first time since 1987.
They will play a small set during the opening ceremony of the 2023 Eurovision on Sunday, 8th May.
The band is known best for their debut hit single “Relax” which topped the charts all over the world. The song was deemed controversial due to homo-erotic innuendo and was banned by BBC Radio 1 and Top of the Pops in the UK.
Tee shirts bearing the legend Frankie Say Relax were ubiquitous in the 80s and some of the most popular merch of the era.

Their album “Welcome to the Pleasure Dome”, which included “Relax” as well as their follow-up hits “Two Tribes” and “The Power Of Love” acquired three platinums and hit the charts of 11 countries.
The band broke apart in 1987 due to personal differences and haven’t performed together since. The original line-up of classic line-up of Holly Johnson, Brian Nash, Paul Rutherford, Mark O’Toole and Peter Gill will perform for the Eurovision ceremony.
