Malta Confirms Eurovision 2026 Participation Regardless Of Israel

Malta has reaffirmed that it will take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 even if Israel competes, despite growing calls across Europe for a boycott.
Culture Minister Owen Bonnici confirmed on Tuesday that Malta will not pull out. Malta’s confirmation comes as several countries have already said they may withdraw should Israel be allowed to compete, citing moral, humanitarian, or political concerns.
Countries like Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, and others have expressed opposition to Israel’s inclusion. Malta’s broadcaster has taken a “neutral” stance, it has confirmed participation, but has not made an official statement specifically about Israel’s role except via the culture minister’s comments.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is expected to make a definitive decision on the matter by its General Assembly in December, after consultation with all member broadcasters.
