Malta Gets ‘Death Slot’ In Eurovision Semi Final And Will Sing In Second Place
Malta’s chances of qualifying for the 2023 Eurovision Grand Final were dealt a hammer blow tonight.
As the running order of the first semi-final was announced tonight, Malta was confirmed as the second act to sing in Liverpool on the night.
This isn’t great news for Maltese viewers.
Second place has long been dubbed the “death slot” by Eurovision fans and commentators, with only four acts qualifying for the final since 2013 – the worst by far of any position.
To make matters worse, they will sing right after Norway, who bookies have ranked as the fourth favourite to win the entire contest – behind only Sweden, Finland and Ukraine.
While the running order seals The Busker’s underdog status going into the competition, they will be hoping to shake up the record books by delivering an electric performance of Dance (Our Own Party) on 9th May.
Do you think Malta will qualify for the final?
