Malta’s route to the Eurovision Song Contest will be longer than usual this year as the festival kicks off this weekend.

While the Malta Eurovision Song Contest traditionally consists of a semi-final and a grand final, they will be preceded this year by four quarter-finals, taking place on 13th, 20th, 27th January and 3rd February.

The semi-final and final will then take place on 9th and 11th February, which means there will be six shows in total.

Ryan and Josmar will present the four quarter-finals, while previous Eurovision winners Amber and Glen Vella will present the semi-final and final.

The first quarter-final will take place this weekend and will feature some big names in Maltese music, including last year’s Malta Eurovision Song Contest runner-up Aidan, two-times former Malta Eurovision winner Fabrizio Faniello, and Eliana Gomez Blanco, who represented Malta at the 2019 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
