Miriana Conte’s ‘Kant’ Shoots Up To Number One On YouTube Trending As The Internet Reacts
Malta’s 2025 Eurovision star Miriana Conte has shot up to number one on YouTube trending.
Miriane’s ‘Kant’ performance (which translates to singing) from Saturday night is the number one trending video on YouTube among Maltese viewers.
Her song, while controversial, has been a hit both locally and internationally with people appreciating the witty references and theatrical element to her performance. From total outfit changes to yoga balls and crazy impressive vocals, the performance was entertaining and clean with the help of her talented backup dancers.
This stellar performance on the MFCC stage bagged her the win which will send her to Basel, Switzerland in May.
Kant has been trending across Europe and beyond with the song being played at a UK pub last month and an American Eurovision enthusiast boasting over 400,000 followers dancing to it on TikTok. Meanwhile, two DJs from Corks 96FM reacted to the song, equally enjoying and being surprised at the lyrics.
It’s also stirred some debate in the UK with BBC 2 host Scott Mills saying, “We can’t talk about Malta’s one [song] at all; we definitely can’t play a clip of it, ever, on the BBC.”
The word “c*nt” is considered an offensive word, however, the phrase “to serve c*nt” is widely used in the LGBTQ+ and drag communities and refers to doing something undeniably bold, confident and feminine.
Meanwhile, Miriana’s song is centred around the phrase with a clever use of wordplay through the Maltese word “Kant” which means to sing.
