PN’s Eurovision Stars Slam PBS For ‘Low Quality’ Song Contest
PN MPs Julie Zahra and Claudette Buttigieg, who both represented Malta in previous Eurovisions, have heavily criticised PBS over the quality of this year’s song contest.
While congratulating winner Sarah Bonnici and the other singers who took part, Zahra and Buttigieg warned that the show itself, which was held in a studio without a live audience, “failed to reach the level required for an event of national importance”.
“The show was low quality and disappointed many people, which is even worse considering it was funded from our taxes,” they said in an official PN statement.

“PBS failed the public, the singers and its own workers and presenters, who did their utmost to conceal the mediocrity of the decisions taken by its leadership.”
“It was clear that the lack of an audience meant the singers and presenters had to make a greater effort to keep the show going, especially considering large parts that were supposed to be live weren’t actually live.”
“PBS deceived viewers. What is holding it back from deceiving the public on other issues, such as news and current affairs? It is a shame that the PBS leadership, particularly chairman Mark Sammut and COO Charles Dalli, insulted artists, workers and the public like this, especially since PBS is publicly financed.”
