Malta will narrow down its Eurovision song selection this evening, with 24 singers going head to head for 16 spots in the final.

As the nation waits with bated breath, thousands of local and international viewers have already listened to the songs, which PBS uploaded to YouTube after the quarter-finals.

These are the five most popular songs, based on how many YouTube views they have received by Thursday morning.

1. Brooke – Checkmate: 36,412 views

Brooke Borg has returned to the Eurovision scene for the first time since 2018 and, judging solely by YouTube views, she is the runaway favourite to represent Malta in Liverpool this May.

Her three previous Eurovision entries have all placed highly – finishing in second, third, and fourth place – but Brooke will be hoping to climb one step higher this time around.

2. Ryan Hili – In The Silence: 19,533 views

Fresh off from his X Factor Malta victory last year, Ryan Hili is competing in the Eurovision Song Contest for the very first time and is warming many hearts with his ballad.

It’s been ten years since a solo male singer has represented Malta at the Eurovision – will Ryan buck that trend?

3. The Busker – Dance (Our Own Party): 18,800 views

The Busker has been around for a while and has made a name for itself in the Maltese music scene with its folk-pop-rock style, but like many popular Maltese bands, they have always stayed away from Eurovision.

They are trying their luck this year though, with a vibey tune that is already proving a hit among Eurovision fans.

4. Greta Tude – Sound Of My Stilettos: 18,339 views

Another newcomer to the Eurovision scene, Greta Tude has soared straight to the top of the list with an upbeat song that encourages people to live their lives as they wish.

While Eurovision has witnessed many drag acts over the years, Greta is aiming to be the first drag queen to represent Malta at the contest.

5. Maxine Pace – Alone: 15,518 views

Maxine has tried her luck at the Eurovision in the past but has really made a name for herself in Malta in recent years, with hits such as ‘Thunder’ and ‘Skin Deep’ in collaboration with Destiny, Gaia Cauchi, and Michela Pace.

She has now returned to the Eurovision scene with a powerful ballad.
