Aidan was disqualified from the 2023 Malta Eurovision Song Contest after publishing “a number of unauthorised social media posts”, PBS has announced.

PBS said that Aidan was found to have breached an internal regulation which bans singers form promoting themselves from the quarter-finals onward.

“Any breach of this clause will lead to automatic disqualification,” rule 5.6 of the general terms and conditions states.

Aidan finished in second place at last year’s Malta Eurovision Song Contest and was widely considered one of the favourites to win this year’s edition. His song Reġina was sung in three languages – Maltese, English and Spanish.
