Popular Eurovision content creator @worldvishawn branded Sarah Bonnici’s failure to qualify for the final and her placement at “dead last” in the second semi-final as “one of Eurovision 2024’s biggest crimes.”

Shawn uploaded a video to social media, labelling this year’s contest as the “biggest crimes,” stating, “There were so many crimes at Eurovision this year, that I don’t even know where to begin, but let’s go through the top three that come to mind.”

In third position, Shawn highlighted Sarah’s failure to advance beyond the semi-final stage. “This is going to be a bold statement, but since the introduction of semi-finals at Eurovision, there has never been such a formidable act to not qualify for the final as Malta. Not only did they fail to qualify, but they also finished last in their semi-final.”

“Objectively, she deserved to qualify,” he continued, asserting that her vocals, choreography, and overall execution were rated as “10/10.”

“The only reason Malta failed to qualify is that no one voted for it because they lack a diaspora, they have no neighbouring countries, they are an island nation surrounded by water and have no allies, and Europe should be ashamed,” the content creator elaborated.

Despite delivering an outstanding performance that commenced Thursday’s semi-final, Malta’s Sarah Bonnici found herself at the bottom of the scoreboard with just 13 points. Only four countries awarded points to Malta: France (a Big Five country) granted one point, Greece awarded three points, San Marino awarded four points, and Armenia awarded five points.

According to Shawn, the “second biggest crime” in this year’s edition of the competition was Austria’s act freezing midway through its finale performance.

However, the “biggest crime” according to him was the disqualification of the Dutch entry, led by Joost Klein, from the finale. “This was a crime against the fans. As soon as the investigation is concluded, fans deserve to know exactly what happened here,” he added.

Fan-favourite Joost was eliminated ahead of Saturday’s finale due to allegations involving an altercation with a female member of the production crew.
