WATCH: Malta’s Junior Eurovision Song Accused Of Blatantly Copying Previous Entry

Ever heard a song for the first time and thought, “Hey, that really sounds like that one other song from a couple of years ago”? Well, that’s exactly what one user thought when they heard Malta’s 2017 Junior Eurovision Song entry, Gianluca Cilia’s Dawra Tond.

Finnish YouTuber Jp Nordica, who regularly uploads Eurovision and Junior Eurovision entries and his thoughts on them, uploaded a video last week comparing Gianluca’s song with People of the Sun, a 2014 entry by Armenia’s Betty.

Back then, the Junior Eurovision Song Contest was hosted in Malta. Italy’s Tu Primo Grande Amore had won that year, with Malta coming in at fourth place… ironically just behind Armenia.

JP Nordica’s viewers seemed to agree with the argument raised, with one user saying, “I knew the songs are similar, but not like that”.
