Malta’s Eurovision queen Ira Losco has given everyone a vital reminder on the importance of not trying to bring someone down while they’re expressing themselves creatively… by opening up on two particularly nasty comments from her own Eurovision experiences.
“I’ve followed Miriana Conte’s success since the release of her song KANT for MESC and now following with excitement as others discover her wonderful personality and her song after her win at the National final,” Ira started. “I can’t help but recognize the impact she is leaving in a very positive way on socials….. OBVIOUSLY there are those who comment negatively for whatever the reason.”
“I know a thing or two about being criticized both constructively-which might I add I like to accept graciously AND negatively which I’ve learnt to ignore and take in my stride,” she continued.
“Both Eurovision experiences came with their fair share of horrible words including a suggestion by a “journalist” at the time that I had definitely slept with members of the jury to place second with 7th wonder, cause I wasn’t talented at all in her opinion- fast forward to 2016 where I was accused of using my pregnancy to my advantage after I literally hid it specifically TO avoid this accusation…. To mention a few. You never win do you?”

“Of course I’m sure some words hurt and most definitely dent spirits sometimes, and that’s why I ask those of you who hurl hurtful insults to stop and think,” Ira urged her followers. “Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but you don’t have to be nasty. Being strong-willed and believing in yourself helps heaps!”
“Miriana seems to be doing that just fine like a true professional who knows her worth and knows the strength of her narrative,” Ira continued. “Together with her team, she KNOWS she has something very unique in hand and as a fellow artist I know that THAT must be so exhilarating to feel! Following with great interest and looking forward to watching her 3 minute show in Basel! Roll on May!”
With nearly 500 likes, Ira’s status has already had the impact it was always bound to have, with dozens of fellow artists, influencers and followers alike congratulating her for hitting the nail on the head.
