Eurovision might be a big moment for a lot of Maltese people… but that hasn’t stopped activists from organising a “boycott party” on the night of the Grand Final.

“Where will you be on Eurovision night?” Moviment Graffitti wrote yesterday. “Join us at Storeroom for a night of good music, minus the artwashing.”

The local NGO’s event is being organised with Youth For Palestine, as the latest of a series of protests amidst the ongoing war in the Middle East.

“As we surpass 200 days of genocide in Gaza within a 76 year occupation, we refuse to support the Eurovision platform and its double standards,” Moviment Graffitti read. “While Russia is still rightfully banned from participation following their invasion of Ukraine, Israel faces no such sanctions. Despite this, Palestinians continue to resist.”

“Let us take Eurovision night to celebrate Palestine, its people, and above all, their unwavering spirit of resistance, together as a community who refuses to stand quietly by,” the announcement continued.

Entrance to the event – which will kick off on Saturday 11th May at 8pm – is free, but donation boxes will be available. DJs playing on the night will also be announced soon.
