Get ready for an early weekend with the sheer amount annual events happening, from the Fashion Awards to Earth Garden Festival.
This month has a lot to offer in terms of events and entertainment, and most of it seems to be packed in the next couple of days. Get your outing face ready; here are 15 events happening around Malta this weekend.
Thursday 31st May
Get your freak on with Brikkuni
Brikkuni will be opening Earth Garden Festival this weekend along with other bands, but they’re the ones we care about. Sadly, they did not make a promo video about it.
There will also be Nicky Bomba with Tribali and May John Fairhurst.
Drown your sorrows in Caribbean rum
Get drunk this Thursday at the Caribbean Rum Night at La Bottega in Valletta. Experience some special cocktails, free canapés and music.
Entrance is free, so don’t be stingy.
Become a Zen Master in a private healing cave in Gozo
This guided meditation session will help you connect with your inner self and become more grounded.
It will be held at a private cave in Xagħra where you will be taught how to access the light within. There’s a suggested donation fee of €5.

Here&now is a series of artist collective exhibitions showcasing Maltese young artists pushing for a contemporary art discourse in Malta. They will be discussing the socio-political and cultural landscape.
There will be a number of artists exhibiting at the event — Kane Cali, Matthew Attard, Aaron Bezzina, Maxine Attard, Matyou Galea, Teresa Scibberas, Roxman Gat, Patrick Mifsud and Ryan Falzon. Curated by Norbert Francis Attard, text by Isaac Azzopardi

A number of international artists will be taking part in this exhibition, among which are names like Stephanie Marx, Paolo Assenza, Mavi Garcia, Feng Lu, Arne Kalkbrenner and Otto Berndt Steffen.
Grind your gears with this Friday workout
A low to medium intensity exercise class will be held at Spartan Kettlebells in St. Julians. It’s suitable for all ages, from seniors to teens. Pregnant women are welcome to join as the workouts will not be extremely intense and there will be no time pressure.
Everybody is welcome to join, from beginners to advanced exercise people.
There’s an €8 fee for this event.
Listen to some fusion tunes to while the night away
Cushion will be playing at Earth Garden on the main stage, where they totally promise a few surprises on stage. The band Cushion will play a mixture of Indian fusion, Western ambience and Eastern chill out music which threads to the sublime.

It’s that time of year again
The Malta Fashion Awards are back with their 20th Edition. Fashion shows, hair shows, Dance acts and many more will be part of one of Malta’s most prestigious events.
The event will be hosted at Pjazza Tritoni in Valletta and will start at 7:00pm. You will get the opportunity to see Malta’s top designers showcasing their coveted pieces and win awards.
Get your cute fix at this adorable exhibition
This year’s 27th Bonsai Annual Exhibition will be held at the Notre Dame Bonsai Gardens in Florian. This exhibition of cuteness will definitely be showcasing some amazing pieces and is organised by the Bonsai Culture Group Malta.
Become more aware on food consumption
This event will be addressing economical and environmental issues when it comes to Sustainable Development in Malta. Its aim is to bring more awareness to the consumption of food to avoid unnecessary food waste.
There will be sessions on proper management and disposal of food, and will also offer advice and practical suggestions on how to introduce good waste management practice in your home.
Dance like a sexy robot at Earth Garden
Brace yourself a night of electro beats with amazing international artists headlining like Sync 24 and Silicone Scally. You can read all about this event here.
The event will start out at 2.00pm and will go on until 1.00am.
Sunday 3rd June
Watch people cycle and run their asses off in the sun
This year’s Eurosport Malta National Duathlon Championship is back and will be hosted at Mtarfa.
There will be runs and cycling competitions both as individual and relay pursuits. There will be an 8km run, a second 4km run and a 27km bicycle ride.
Watch a West End play on screen
Tennessee Williams’ classic masterpiece (which everyone should read) will be aired at the St. James Cavalier.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof was played at London’s West End last year with amazing actors taking part such as Sienna Miller, Colm Meaney and Jack O’Connell.
The show will air at 6:00pm and the entrance fee is €12 for adults and €10 for students and senior citizens.
Give a helping hand to the environment
A Clean-up of Dwejra bay will be taking place from 10.00am till 1.00pm in Gozo mainly to address the sustainable development in Malta and focus on the effects of flora and fauna in both land and sea at Dwejra.
The event will also feature ghost fishing, a practice where people collect discarded or lost fishing gear from the sea to decrease pollution and waste littering in the area. They will also be organising tours to the Ġebla tal-Ġeneral and around Dwejra.
