Maltese designer and hairdresser Vanusia of Vanusia Hair Design has just represented Malta at Serbia Fashion Week in Novi Sad — taking her bold, creative runway vision abroad as part of a long-standing collaboration between Malta Fashion Week & Awards and its Serbian counterpart.

The showcase took place on the 5th October, marking another proud moment for Malta’s growing fashion scene.

Earlier this year, during Malta Fashion Week 2025 in Valletta, Vanusia made her designer debut with a runway concept that transformed hair extensions into wearable art — a daring idea she continued to evolve for her international appearance in Novi Sad.

“Vanusia’s work embodies the creative experimentation that Malta Fashion Week champions,” said Adrian J. Mizzi, Executive Producer of Malta Fashion Week & Awards.

“Our collaboration with Serbia Fashion Week continues to open doors for Maltese talent to show on respected international stages,” he added.

Svetlana Horvat, President of Serbia Fashion Week, said: “We were delighted to welcome Vanusia from Malta Fashion Week. Her innovative use of hair as couture resonated with our audience and underscores the value of cultural exchange between our fashion weeks.”

The Serbia–Malta fashion exchange has brought Maltese creatives to Novi Sad for years, including Rosemarie Abela (2017) and Marco Parascandalo (2023), while Serbian designers have also featured in Malta, reinforcing an ongoing cross-border collaboration between the two fashion platforms.

Vanusia was joined by Adrian J. Mizzi, who oversaw all technical aspects of the show, and Elaine Galea, who coordinated backstage operations including model casting, hair, and make-up, in collaboration with the Serbian backstage team.

A two-time Fashion Hairstylist Award winner at the Malta Fashion Awards, Vanusia is known for pushing creative boundaries — using hair not just as a tool of styling, but as couture material.

Her appearance in Serbia marks a major step forward for Maltese fashion talent on the international stage.
