Malta Create: Film Commission Introduces Short Film Fund To Support Local Filmmakers

The Malta Film Commission has recently announced the launch of the Malta Create Short Film Fund!

The initiative aims to support and promote emerging filmmakers in order to encourage new talent and creativity within the local film industry, leading to further growth and development.

With a budget of €100,000, Malta Create will fund the production of a short film. Applications are open until 7th June. During the Mediterrane Film Festival, a panel of film experts will judge the applications, and the winner will be announced.

Johann Grech, Malta Film Commissioner, commented on the launch: “We want to inspire a new generation of filmmakers and crews. And today, we are investing more in tomorrow’s filmmakers”.

Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo also expressed his support for the initiative, stating, “By investing in our local talent, we are not only promoting the growth of Malta’s film industry but also contributing to our nation’s cultural richness.”

“We are committed to providing more resources to strengthen our creative industry and support emerging filmmakers.”
