Watch: ‘A Country Of Doers’ – Cast And Crew Of Gladiator 2 Praise Malta And Its Talent
From the film’s producer calling us a “country of doers” to Denzel Washington unable to stop saying “Amazing!”, we’ve just been blessed by the heartfelt praise of the Gladiator 2 crew.
With the world premiere of the film set to happen tonight at the UK Red Carpet Film Premieres in London, local and international fans alike are hyped up to see the fruits of our labor.
In a video shared by Malta Film Commissioner, Johann Grech, the cast and crew of the film were interviewed where they can be heard expressing their pride in our island and its talented people with well-deserved compliments.
Veteran director, Ridley Scott himself, who directed the original Gladiator which was also filmed on our island, had this to say about our island:
“I love the atmosphere in Malta. I love the feeling of life in Malta…I just love the fact that Malta is so vibrant.”
On top of that, Paul Mescal, the lead actor of the film, said that Malta “is a country that knows how to tolerate big filmmaking.”
From 1980’s Popeye to 2013’s World War Z, Malta’s risen through the ranks of Hollywood stardom and has not stopped since. With production after production, our island’s always been hospitable to both local and international projects.
Hollywood legend Denzel Washington, while being in awe at the set design of the film said that the crew did an “amazing, amazing, amazing job.”
Fred Hechinger, who played Emperor Caracalla, side by side with Joseph Quinn’s, Emperor Geta, said “It was an actor’s greatest playground. That is a testament to the Maltese designers and craftspeople.”
“Not only was the legacy continuing with Ridley Scott and his direction, it was also continuing with Malta itself,” he ended.
