Watch: Malta Mentioned In Disney+ Show Shogun For War Tactics In Great Siege
Shogun, a popular American historical drama miniseries mentioned Malta and its battle in the Great Siege in its last episode released yesterday.
One of the main characters, John Blackthorne, is an English sailor who ends up shipwrecked in Japan. In the fourth episode, Blackthorne explained war tactics to Lord Toranaga through a familiar example, using that of Malta’s tactics in the Great Siege.
The Englishman mentioned the “great battle” which took the form of a six-month siege, and how “this victory saved the whole Mediterranean seaboard”.
He also explained Fort St. Elmo’s strategic use as a watchtower in the war.
