From A Music Festival To A Contemporary Art Exhibition, This Weekend In Malta Is Packed With Exciting Events

Before Easter celebrations hit us at full force, Malta’s got one more week of fun events and activities to look forward to.

In fact, this weekend starts off with a much anticipated music festival and ends with a massive theatre performance for Palm Sunday. Sounds like a plan!

Friday 12th April

1. Malta’s biggest alternative music festival kicks off

And it’s expected to be a-maz-ing!

Rock the South has returned to our island for an eighth edition with an all-new lineup of incredible artists for a three-day festival of awesomeness. If you love alternative music as much as us, you won’t want to miss this incredible event, hosted at the Zion Reggae Bar in Marsaskala.

2. Relax and unwind while enjoying this amazing art exhibition

Contemporary artworks and world famous pieces come to Valletta with Norbert Francis Attard and Francesca Mangion’s Afterminimalism exhibition, which will include pieces by legendary artists such as Damien Hirst and Brian Eno, as well as a number of local creators as well.

Saturday 13th April

3. Red Electrick and The Travellers Become ‘One

For an incredible, one-night-only performance at the Aria Complex, the two beloved bands will share the stage for an unexpected show in which they will perform well-known hits from both bands’ catalogues.

4. A Maltese film and an exclusive premiere? Count us in!

That’s right, the much anticipated Maltese-themed feature film, Limestone Cowboy is finally premiering at Eden Cinemas this Saturday, followed by a Q&A session with the cast and crew.

5. It’s a record day! (d-did you get it?)

This Saturday is Record Store Day, a worldwide celebration of records and vinyls, and Sunset Records Malta are giving away a Record Store Day tote bag with every vinyl purchased.

So head on over and find a new way to listen to your favourite artists.

6. A Palm Sunday public performance in the streets

Local theatre group Dwal Godda are taking over the village of G?arg?ur for an unusual theatre experience.

Consisting of a two-act play and a traditional Good Friday procession in between them, Alla Mnezza is set to be one unforgettable performance.
