Blink and you might’ve missed it – or you didn’t even know where you had to be looking – but LARPing has well and truly landed in Malta.

LARPing, which stands for Live Action Role-Playing, has taken on a number of different forms over the decades, from the more conventional media fantasy to zombie apocalypses. But for Malta’s first ever LARP session, it was the world of gaming which was delved into.

Two weekends ago, emerging role-playing organisation Nephilim Creations brought The Witcher series Echoes of Destiny to the islands, for a couple of days of intense campaigning at the Mosta Campsite full of intricate attention to detail.

Featuring over 20 players and 15 NPC / Crew spread over 10 different nationalities, the event was a success, and the organisers are already looking into the campaign’s second episode.

With realistic make-up effects by Bernard Gellel and the immersive writing of co-founder Jason Micallef and artistic direction of Myron Ellul (all bolstered by support from numerous individuals including Rebecca Zammit and Rachel Azzopardi), Echoes of Destiny ended up being a sold-out experience which perfectly set the tone for future events.

“The Wild Hunt has started, and this is only the beginning,” Nephilim Creations wrote on social media, sharing over 100 awesome shots from the weekend. “See you on the path!”

Send this to someone who’d love to attend future LARP campaigns in Malta!
