After Fourth Chemo Session, MP Robert Arrigo Urges Investment In Cancer Equipment

After being discharged from Mater Dei following his latest chemotherapy session, PN MP Robert Arrigo gave his two cents about the state of Mater Dei’s cancer equipment.
“Malta should sign up a deal with a hospital in the UK or the USA,” he urged the authorities, warning that Mater Dei’s oncology equipment is getting older.
“Their equipment [in the UK and the US] surely changes after two years… our equipment can be newer by buying their outgoing model. We can build on that by sharing medical staff exchanges.”
Arrigo – who was PN deputy leader for almost five years– revealed earlier this month that he was been diagnosed with cancer and had started undergoing chemotherapy.
Delivering an update today, Arrigo said he has now undergone four chemo sessions and has eight left to go.
He praised the oncology department’s staff and said he can now see “a small spot of light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel”.
“People, life is beautiful, and we do not appreciate it enough,” Arrigo said. “I thank all the people who messaged and contacted me. You keep me going.”
