Ċensu Moran Centre Welcomes Its First Patients

The Ċensu Moran Regional Health Centre has officially opened its doors today, welcoming its first patients for outpatient clinical services.
The Minister for Health and Active Ageing, Jo Etienne Abela, visited the centre and met with some of the first patients receiving the services being offered.

Under the direction of the Ministry for Health and Active Ageing, the Foundation for Medical Services has coordinated the introduction of speech and language pathology and gynaecology services starting from today.
Over the course of this month, eight additional disciplines will be introduced, including physiotherapy, orthopaedics, manometry, podiatry, gastroenterology and respiratory medicine. The mobile MRI scanner service, which has already served over 1,000 patients, will also continue to be available.
The Centre also features two operating theatres for endoscopies and other interventions, which are expected to begin functioning in the coming weeks.

“Today marks an important milestone for healthcare in our country, as we begin to see our promises translate into tangible results for patients. On this very first day, fifty individuals received outpatient treatment at this new Centre. Gradually, over the next two months, more services will be introduced so that the Ċensu Moran Centre reaches its full potential. Meanwhile, the operating theatres for endoscopies and other procedures will become operational in the coming weeks,” stated Minister Abela.
During the visit, Minister Abela met Rebecca Formosa, a Speech & Language Pathologist who will be delivering services at the centre. She highlighted that thanks to modern equipment and continued investment, the centre will be offering high-quality services that will greatly benefit patients.
