One man has died while positive for COVID-19 over the last 24 hours.

The man was 78-years-old, Malta’s health authorities have confirmed.

214 new cases of the virus were found locally alongside 280 new recoveries.

98 patients are currently in Mater Dei Hospital, with five people receiving intensive care.

There are currently 2,675 active cases on the island.
