A temporary Day Respite service is being offered to elderly people who are being affected by intense heat.

Discussions were held between Active Aging Minister Jo Etienne Abela and Energy Minister Miriam Dalli, in light of the, “unprecedented heat” which has resulted in, “temporary interruptions in the supply of electricity due to related faults”.

To help protect some of the most vulnerable, the Active Aging Minister has worked to orchestrate the provision of a, “Day Respite service” for those over the age of 65-years.

This is a daytime service which will be provided at St Vincent de Paul, Gozo’s Dar Padova or any other state-run care home across Malta or Gozo.

“The Ministry for Active Aging will do everything to offer the elderly a service close to the locality theirs,” read the press statement.

Those elderly people who wish to use this temporary service should call 22788491/2/3 or send an email to [email protected] between 8am and 5pm.
