Get Ready To Become Very Brave And Very Wet In Support Of ALS This Weekend
Remember the Ice Bucket Challenge?
The viral trend was a fun and super wet way of spreading awareness about ALS, a devastating neurological disease. And it worked, with people all over the world learning about the illness.
Now, one Maltese company is planning another water-filled event to raise awareness on ALS.
Oney Insurance is holding A Dip In The Sea, an event where everyone is invited to come and jump into the cold February see in order to raise awareness for ALS – and Bjorn Formosa, Malta’s foremost ALS activist, will be in attendance.
“We are always striving to take up some challenges and adventures,” said Anais Mathieu, marketing representative with Oney Insurance.
“Recently, we created a corporate social responsibility committee that proposed some charity projects and we decided to organise an event to raise awareness on ALS,” she told Lovin Malta.
“On Saturday we will jump in the sea in order to raise money for ALS Malta. And for more fun: carnival happens to be on that weekend too, so anyone willing to take up the challenge can join us and wear a carnival costume,” she said.
She said that Oney Insurance were especially proud to have Bjorn working with them.
“We feel privileged that Bjorn shall be attending this event and will be motivating us to jump in the cold sea,” she said.
“As we know that the water will be a bit cold, but we’ve found a sponsor for warm beverages to warm up the warriors and their supporters,” she said. “There will also be an experienced lifeguard on site.”
All collected donations and money will go towards the ALS Association.
