A new clinic for the community in Qala, Gozo, was inaugurated by the Minister for Health and Active Aging, Jo Etienne Abela, together with the Minister for Gozo and Agriculture, Clint Camilleri.

This clinic will offer services including family medicine, speech and language pathology, physiotherapy, podiatry, and ear screening services, making it the first of its kind in a Community Clinic in Gozo. Services will be provided by the same professionals, ensuring continuous care for patients.

Partially financed by the National Development and Social Fund (NDSF), this new clinic, whose construction was carried out by workers from the Ministry for Gozo and Agriculture, will cater to over 2,500 residents of Qala and surrounding areas.

Minister Jo Etienne Abela explained that this model aims to place the patient at the centre of primary health care. Patients will also benefit from seamless access to professional services through the computerised Electronic Patient Record system. He emphasised that through the concept of continuity of care, primary health care professionals will be empowered to achieve higher levels of service for the benefit of patients.

“The government remains committed to continuing to invest in and strengthen primary care in the community so that we can continue to offer the highest level of health service,” concluded Minister Abela.

On his part, Minister Clint Camilleri stated, “After opening community clinics in Gharb and Victoria a few months ago, we have now opened the third centre in Qala to continue meeting the healthcare needs of Gozitans. The work carried out in this building will continue to support our commitment to improving infrastructure and healthcare services in Gozo, for the well-being of residents and medical professionals.”

Minister Camilleri concluded that patients will now receive healthcare in a modern and comfortable environment, while medical professionals will benefit from improved facilities that facilitate their vital work.
