Living With Allergies? New Treatments Just Launched In Malta Could Offer Long-Term Relief

Allergy sufferers in Malta might soon breathe a little easier. A local leader in healthcare distribution has just launched Inmunotek in Malta, a globally recognised biotechnology company specialising in allergy diagnosis and immunotherapy.

The move is being welcomed as a major step forward in how allergies are treated across the island, with innovative therapies now more accessible than ever.

Allergies On The Rise And So Is The Need For New Solutions

The timing couldn’t be better. According to European health experts, allergies are on the rise, affecting around 30% of adults and 40% of children and Malta is no exception. Local data shows that up to 44% of children and 32% of adults are currently affected by seasonal or chronic allergic conditions.

If the trend continues, over half of Europe’s population could be affected by 2035, a concern that’s gaining more urgency with the effects of climate change, urbanisation and evolving lifestyles.

Here in Malta, some of the most common triggers include pet dander, house dust mite and various types of pollen. All of which can lead to recurring respiratory symptoms, eczema, fatigue or asthma-like flare-ups. The impact on quality of life can be especially tough for kids, pet owners and people who suffer during peak pollen season.

How Inmunotek Helps

Rather than masking symptoms with daily antihistamines or relying heavily on steroids, Inmunotek’s immunotherapy treatments aim to address allergies at their root. Their personalised approach gradually desensitises the immune system to specific allergens, including pets, dust mites and pollen, offering long-term relief and, in many cases, preventing the condition from worsening over time.

The brand brings with it a full suite of diagnostic kits and immunotherapy products, including both sublingual (under-the-tongue) and subcutaneous (injection-based) options.

“This is a big milestone for us,” said Dr. Ljubomir Dimitrovski, Business Lead at Pharma.mt. “We’re proud to give Maltese patients and doctors access to these cutting-edge treatments, which are widely used across Europe but until now were harder to access locally.”

Coming Soon To Pharmacies And Clinics Across Malta

The products will be available through Pharma.mt’s nationwide network of partner pharmacies and clinics, with training and educational workshops being rolled out for doctors, paediatricians and ENT specialists throughout the summer.

It’s a big step in tackling a health issue that often goes under the radar, and one that could offer much-needed relief for thousands of people across the island.
