Lovin Malta Team Tries #MeatFreeWeek

The Lovin Team soldiered through a Meat Free Week, and though some suffered more than others (while others didn’t even try, ahem, Tim) we’ve learnt a couple of things that we thought we’d share.

These aren’t necessarily ‘vegetarians only’ pointers, but a couple of things we learnt this week that got us to slightly change our eating habits.

1. It’s really not difficult to do

Monday’s salad made it seem like the week was about to be a struggle, but by Wednesday we were grilling lampuki and making our own fruit smoothie blends for breakfast.

We’re still no experts on the #veggielife, but we’re slowly getting there.

2. Prepping meals is actually lots of fun

Because we know that our office cafeteria is full of bacon-and-chicken-filled dishes, we thought it would be better if we come with ready made meals to avoid the temptation.

We’ve learnt that getting to decide what and how much you’re going to eat in a day makes you feel better about yourself and gives you one less thing to hassle about during your day.

And don’t we all need that.

3. The vegan community has lots to offer

Vegans get lots of hate for being so ‘moralistic’. But when you push that aside and listen to what they’re saying, you can learn how to incorporate wellness and healthy living with an environmental conscience.

It’s all about clean living, and we’re certainly on board with that.

4. Veggies aren’t just for salads

There’s an entire world of food that meat blinds us to.

There’s as much variation as you’d have with meat, and the dishes are always fun to make. If you’re curious about the world of vegetables, head to Vegan Eats Malta for some fun vegetarian and vegan meal ideas that will have you salivating in seconds.

Vegan foodie Nikita Manduca told Lovin Malta that “Malta is picking up slowly on vegan lifestyle, but they need to keep up because theres a massive demand for it.” Maybe that’s why our vegan struggles weren’t that real…
