The first episode of Mind Over Chatter will be dropping tonight at 6.30pm – and you can tune in to hear more about their insights into shattering stigma around mental health through explorations of their own inner journeys.

Mind Over Chatter – launching in collaboration with Lovin Malta – will be hosted by former Maltese national-goalkeeper-turned-mental-performance-coach, Andrew Hogg, and radio-DJ-turned-mental-health-advocate David Ozi Borg.

This launch season of Mind Over Chatter will feature discussions with figures such as Valentina Rossi, Ira Losco, Neil Agius and Yazmin Stevens – and this first episode will bring former pro-footballer Luke Dimech into a discussion which was teased by the podcast in a ramp up to its launch.

“Does Luke love Luke?” asked Oz.

“Luke battles with Luke everyday, I think” came the former footballer’s response.

“My life has flipped upside down. Homewise, I’m very settled. Everything is great… Luke himself is an ongoing battle. Trying to figure out what is the right thing, where is the right place to be… and what the right thing to do is has always been very, very huge.”

In another teaser, the hosts delve into Dimech’s life now that he’s trying to adapt to life after a football career.

“You do see things differently, you do have to deal with things differently. Your life changes completely, you’ll never get the highs you used to experience, everything seems bland compared to the things you used to do.”

“You were hitting euphoric highs which you won’t see, no matter what you do,” he paused, briefly.

“Maybe if you have a kid, but I don’t have kids, so I can’t tell you.”

Another teaser showed that this opening episode will explore the hosts’ mental health backgrounds. Oz suffers from Complex PTSD, while Hogg is a sleepwalker.

“I was highly stressed out – and during the night I sleepwalked out of my hotel room.”

“I’ve woken up say on the 3rd floor in a lift, and with the bounce I’d wake up.”

Oz interjected, “when you wake up are you scared?”

“No,” came the response, “I’m so used to it”.

If you’d like to hear more from these enthralling conversations and get past the often overlooked reality of grappling with, overcoming and living with mental health issues, tune in from tonight at 6.30pm.
