In a move to prioritise the well-being of its workforce, the db Foundation has forged a partnership with renowned local NGO Caritas to offer its over 1,500 employees free mental health support services.

The Employee Assistance programme aims to offer “a safe space” for db Group employees to seek counselling and social work assistance, addressing a wide spectrum of mental health concerns they may encounter. These services will be offered free of charge and with complete confidentiality.

Through this initiative, employees can anonymously access support services, with all costs covered by the db Foundation. Additionally, the partnership encompasses psycho-social education sessions, including talks and workshops, aimed at fostering a culture of empowerment and understanding within the organisation.

Reflecting on the significance of this initiative, db Foundation Chairperson Sandra Sladden, who is leading the effort, stated “In today’s fast-paced world, it is easy to neglect our own wellbeing. It is therefore important for employers to ensure that their team members have access to high-quality assistance and the encouragement to seek professional help in confidence.”

“It is both a pleasure and a source of pride to work with Caritas to find the right solution for all the employees of the db Group. We highly recommend them to other employers looking to invest in such programmes.”

CEO Robert Debono echoed this sentiment, saying that “as a major employer in Malta, it is our responsibility to care for our employees and ensure they get all the support they need to lead fulfilling lives at work and beyond it.”

“Through this partnership, we will be offering db Group employees individual counselling, as well as seminars, motivational sessions, and workshops to help build resilience,” Caritas Foundation Director Anthony Gatt explained.

With over 1,500 employees under its wing, the db Group is the local operator of Starbucks and Hard Rock Cafe, and owns multiple restaurants across the island including Espiral, Manta, Tora, Loa, Aki, Amami, Nine Lives, Verani, Sonora, Weststreme and Blu Beach Club.

The company also owns and runs the db Seabank Resort and Spa, the db San Antonio Resort and Spa, Melior Boutique Hotel and Porto Azzurro, and has joint ventures in the segments of contract catering, healthcare, and education.
