Rat-Infested Madliena Tank Removed Less Than 24 Hours After Going Viral
A mysterious tank that was attracting dozens of rodents to a Madliena roadside was removed just a couple of hours after going viral.
Footage posted by Lovin Malta yesterday showed a mischief of rats scurrying around a white tank said to be holding food and waste in a residential area in Madliena.
After speaking to residents and the Swieqi Local Council, the newsroom discovered that this hygiene issue has been persisting for over a week with a formal complaint to the Environmental Health Department on 4th October. However, in recent days it got especially bad.
Lovin Malta posted the footage – which amassed almost 140,000 views – yesterday afternoon and the tank was removed within a couple of hours by the council. The district police also went to the site to file a report and figure out how the situation got so out of hand.
