Malta’s health authorities have issued a National Patient Safety Alert after a pack of Ozempic® 1mg injection pens from a specific batch was suspected to be possibly falsified.

The alert comes from Novo Nordisk®, the manufacturer of Ozempic®, which reported the issue to the Malta Medicines Authority. As a precautionary measure, a patient-level recall is now in place for:

  • Ozempic® 1mg solution for injection in pre-filled pen
  • Batch number: PP5N682::RN287
  • Expiry date: 02/2027

No other batches are affected.

If you have Ozempic® from this batch:

  1. Stop using it immediately
  2. Contact your pharmacy to verify the batch number
  3. Return the pack to the pharmacy where it was purchased
  4. Speak to your pharmacist or doctor for continuation of treatment

The Superintendent of Public Health and the Malta Medicines Authority are working with all relevant stakeholders to ensure public safety.

If you have questions or concerns, get advice from your pharmacist or healthcare provider.
