A 33-year-old pregnant Moroccan woman who was attacked in an apartment in Swieqi last Sunday by her Libyan boyfriend in an attempted manual abortion has lost her baby, Net News reported. She was two months pregnant with her fourth child.

The man, Ashref Ammar Marghami, allegedly attempted to perform an abortion on his partner with a knife, which he doused in gin and set alight to sterilize.  It was the woman’s 16-year-old daughter who actually not only reported the case to the Police, but also saved her mother by breaking down their bathroom door and finding the woman gagged and tied up.

Marghami has escaped from Malta, and an international EU Arrest Warrant has been issued for his capture. Europol is assisting in the manhunt, especially since it’s believed that the Libyan man is hiding somewhere in Northern Europe.
