WATCH: Joseph Muscat And Adrian Delia Team Up To Talk Testicles

A host of Maltese celebrities and politicians have teamed up to create a Public Service Announcement for November, which is Testicular Cancer Awareness month.
Blue Cherry is a series of four videos that was created after various Maltese TV channels and organisations put their differences aside and worked together on this important health issue.
The videos features Maltese celebrities like Ben Camille and Peppi Azzopardi challenging male stereotypes, before ending the video by saying “Jekk int raġel bil-bajd, hu ħsiebhom” – “if you are a man with balls, take care of them.”
Writers from the TV show Skjetti had teamed up with the Health Promotion and Disease Directorate and the other channels to create Blue Cherry, in the hope that it would connect with men who would normally shy away from talking about such a topic.
The major Maltese TV channels, including NET, ONE, and PBS, will be airing this PSA over the coming days in a bid to increase awareness about testicular cancer, which is most common in young men between the ages of 15 and 35 years.
Daniel Chircop, a comedian and TV presenter on the show Skjetti, spoke to Lovin Malta about approaching this health issue with both sensitivity as well as a touch of humour.
“We found that Maltese men are not so open about these things and won’t be so comfortable talking about them, so we tried to do something that would connect,” said Daniel.
Even though their PSA was only aired once, Daniel said that “a woman has already spoken to us to thank us because her dad had seen the promo and he had a lump. When he went to get checked, it turned out to be testicular cancer.”
