Public Health Superintendent Charmaine Gauci has gone live for her weekly press briefing at the end of what has become Malta’s absolute worst for COVID-19 numbers.

In fact, the island registered 122 new cases in the last 24 hours, along with 36 new recoveries. This puts Malta’s current active cases at 1,095, one day after quadruple digits were hit for the frist time ever.

A total of 2,882 swab tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.

In today’s press briefing, Gauci is expected to give further details on these latest cases, and might face some tough questions from the media amidst this worryingly recordbreaking week.

Earlier today, Health Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne confirmed that the Malta’s outpatient services and operations will stop if the nation’s COVID-19 ITU wards, which are slowly filling up, end up reaching full capacity.
