13 Community Sites In Malta That Will Be Restored By 2024
Some say thirteen is an unlucky number, but not in the case of these localities. Community sites across Malta will be restored by 2024 as part of the seventh Call of the Restoration Works Scheme for Local Councils.
Various sites ranging from statues, niches, monuments, chapels and other historical structures found in villages and towns across the islands, will be restored over the next two years.
An abundance of submissions were put forward and these thirteen projects have been selected for restoration.

The scheme aims to preserve these aspects of our heritage by valorising the historical patrimony and artefacts found in the respective villages and cities, which occupy pride and place in the community.
It falls under the Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government with the cooperation of the Restoration Directorate and the collaboration of the Directorate for Government. During an event announcing the chosen localities Minister Owen Bonnici said it is important to keep delivering initiatives which preserve, restore and rehabilitate our historical patrimony.
“Through restoration of historical places and monuments, we are preserving the Maltese Cultural Heritage for the generations after us while raising the value of our locations for residents, tourists and locals that visit these locations” Alison Zerafa Civelli added.
