British Navy Convoy From 1941 Docks In Malta For 3 Day Visit

HMS Defender arrived in Malta’s ports earlier today ahead of a 3-day visit.

Announced on Facebook by the British High Commission, the ship entered the Grand Harbour in a Procedure Alpha salute

 

The ship was awarded awarded honours for the Malta Convoys in 1941.

The post detailed: “Defender’s forebear has a deep connection with the Maltese Islands, having played a crucial role in the Malta Convoys of 1941.”

Comments of pride and solidarity flooded the post, with one user Chris Agius speaking of “an unbreakable bond, based on mutual trust and respect, spanning centuries”.
