YouTube channel ‘Overly Sarcastic Productions has uploaded a video summarising Malta’s long and turbulent history earlier this week… and it already has over 200,000 views.

The video explores Malta’s history from the early days of the Ġgantija temples to the islands becoming a republic in 1974 (and everything in between). It also looks at the importance of Malta in terms of Mediterranean history and all the empires that have come and gone over the years.

The video is a fun watch even for those of you who are well-versed in Maltese history. There are some cool snippets of information that you might not have known before – like the fact that Malta’s the only Semitic language written in a Roman script!

Overly Sarcastic Productions even goes onto say that although he’s “covered a lot of nations and empires in my time here… Malta may have one of the strongest claims to being the Winner of History in my book”.
