Hundreds Join Run For Mental Wellbeing To Celebrate Courage, Recovery And Hope
Around 800 runners of all ages and backgrounds came together on Sunday 26th October for the 9th edition of the Eurosport and Enemed Run for Mental Wellbeing, organised by ACAMH Malta in collaboration with Pembroke Athleta.
The annual event wasn’t just about kilometres or finish times, it was a celebration of courage, resilience and mental health awareness.
This year’s theme, “The Start Line, Where Courage Begins,” captured what the run truly represents: that moment where every person — regardless of speed, age, or experience — faces themselves, their doubts, and their fears, and chooses to move forward anyway.
“Running, like other passions, reveals who we truly are when we step onto the start line,” organisers said.

“Between the start and finish line, no one can take that step for us — and that act of beginning represents courage itself.”
The run was filled with powerful personal stories that brought the message home:
– A runner racing beside his neurodivergent child.
– A runner dedicating the race to a sister lost to suicide.
– A survivor returning to his first race after overcoming a suicide attempt.
– Another running in honour of a parent living with bipolar disorder.
Each story, organisers said, is a reminder that mental health struggles are never about weakness, but about endurance and hope.
“These are not stories of defeat, but of human strength,” ACAMH Malta said.
“They remind us why we run, why we care, and why mental health must remain at the heart of our communities.”
Beyond the endorphins and medals, the event carried a deeper message; that mental wellbeing is everyone’s race, and that healing often begins with compassion, understanding and the courage to start again.
ACAMH Malta continues to work to support the mental health of children and adolescents, emphasising that everyday acts of kindness and empathy can have lasting impact.
“Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about,” the organisers quoted Robin Williams. “Be kind always.”
