In the darkness that is Malta’s environmental record, a new, bright, and green spark of hope shines – and her name is Doris.

After two years of rehabilitation, Doris the chipped loggerhead turtle was released into Maltese waters on the 11th of December, just last week, by Nature Trust Malta.

Hilariously, now that Nature Trust is able to track Doris wherevere she goes, Doris has garnered a bit of a Maltese following, with people waiting for updates on her whereabouts day-to-day since her release.

After regaining her strength, she was chipped with a satellite tracker and let free – and that’s when the adventure really began

First, she was hanging about Sliema

But she soon tired of all the buildings and made her way to Filfla

By Friday, Doris had had enough of the Maltese Islands and was seen going south… like, waaay south

Needless to say, people were loving her free-spirited movements

More than anything, people were just happy to see a bit of environmental love for Maltese conservation movements
