The President’s annual Solidarity Fun Run once again proved to be a huge success this year, with thousands of people taking to the streets for a good cause and burning some calories in the process.
The main run started from Saqqaja Hill in Rabat at 10am and finished in Valletta around two hours later, with runners covering a distance of 11.3km. Three walks started out from Paola (5.35km), the University (4.69km) and Santa Venera (4.49km) at the same time, with all groups eventually converging in St George’s Square, Valletta.
The President marched side by side with PN leader Adrian Delia and PL deputy leader Chris Fearne
Thousands of people took part
Several companies used the run as a team-bonding event

The run and walks ended in Valletta where the President gave a speech
Now in its tenth consecutive year, the Fun Run raises funds by asking participants to purchase commemorative T-shirts for the event, with all proceeds going towards the Malta Community Chest Fund.
The event ended with a speech by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, who told the public she is targeting to raise a record-breaking €9 million in this year’s edition of L-Istrina, the 20th edition of Malta’s largest fundraising marathon.
“I honestly believe that the solidarity and generosity of the Maltese people is what truly sets this country apart from all other countries in the world,” she said.
