International Meme Page Uses Maltese Health And Safety Failure As Brexit Metaphor

The British meme page Tuckered has resurrected a photo of a Maltese restaurant undergoing some dangerous reconstruction as a metaphor for Britain’s exit from the European Union.

The photo, which features the caption “If Brexit were a photo”, shows diners at a popular Sliema restaurant enjoying their meal, oblivious to the dangerous construction work taking place just below them.

The photo originally went viral in October 2016, after which the restaurant evacuated the balcony and set up wooden boards to cover the construction site from view.

While some were vocally against the post in the comments, it appears the Maltese restaurant is one of the page’s top posts with hundreds of shares and over a thousand likes in just over 12 hours.
