Watch: Lovin Malta’s Full Two-Hour Interview With Clyde Caruana Out Now
A few days before the 2025 Budget, Finance Minister Clyde Caruana sat down with Tim Diacono for around two hours to discuss the state of the nation and his vision for its future.
Caruana discussed his plan to reform Malta’s full imputation system, which for the past 20 or so years has been a major selling point for the island to attract foreign investment.
Stressing the importance of education to land a high-paying job and to level up the Maltese economy, the minister warned it is “completely unacceptable”, that 40% of students aren’t pursuing a post-secondary education. He also shared some numbers to back up his recent criticism of the University of Malta’s financial situation.
Caruana expressed skepticism on several key issues – from land reclamation and calls to sanction Israel to a four-day workweek and the EU’s ability to reach its climate change targets.
The interview was filmed on 16th October.
