Joseph Muscat Banters With Luxembourg’s Prime Minister After Another Bad Day For Malta’s Football Team
Malta’s horrendous run of results on the football pitch continued tonight with a 1-0 loss at home to Luxembourg, the national team losing courtesy of an injury time goal.
Over in Brussels at an EU leaders’ summit, the Prime Ministers of both countries had an eye on the game and Malta’s PM Joseph Muscat said his Luxembourger counterpart Xavier Bettel wouldn’t let him forget the result.
. @Xavier_Bettel has been teasing me because #Luxembourg beat #Malta ???????? 1-0 in stoppage time. We will need a return match soon @MaltaFA1900 -JM pic.twitter.com/qnTiw62qIq

“Xavier Bettel has been teasing me because Luxembourg beat Malta in stoppage time,” Muscat said as he tweeted a selfie of himself and Bettel. “We will need a return match soon.”
Malta’s justice minister Owen Bonnici quickly chimed in to say he expects similar treatment from Luxembourg’s justice minister Felix Braz, but the latter responded: “No, your pain is big enough.”
